The US politician’s annual list of his favourite songs always makes for insightful reading, not least because it’s refreshing to look over his shifting tastes.

2020 was an eventful year for a lot of unpleasant reasons, but it was also a fine year for new music.

The Democrat grandee has been listening to a lot of Phoebe Bridgers, it seems, alongside the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Waxahatchee, Bad Bunny, and newcomer Hope Tala.

He’s also been watching Small Axe, naming Lovers Rock as one of his favourite films – so Barack has probably had Janet Kay and The Revolutionaries on repeat.
