In a statement on social media on Monday (14th December), Jesy revealed that being part of the band has taken a toll on her mental health, the singer said, “I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.”
Liam took to Instagram to voice his opinion on the breaking news and compared it to when Zayn Malik left One Direction in 2015.
Speaking to fans on an Instagram Live, the ‘Polaroid’ singer said, “It’s always at at this moment in time when bands get into that sort of thing.”
He added, “Having been there myself, I feel like Zayn had left for pretty much the same reasons in a weird way.”
Liam then went on to express his support for Jesy Nelson and her decision.
The ‘Strip That Down’ singer then went on to discuss the future of Little Mix saying, “I wish the girls all the best with carrying on as a three. It’s a tough time and I do feel for them.”
He added, “Because everyone is watching in that little fishbowl at the moment, because no one really understands what is going on and how it feels for some people.”
Liam also shared his support for the girls, “I’m sending a lot of love to Little Mix.”
The two groups have had a very similar experience, both bands were created on The X Factor, despite all members of both groups entering the talent show as solo artists.
One Direction came third on the show in 2010 and Little Mix became the first band to win the show in 2011.
