Shia Labeouf Has Been Dropped From Netflix’s Awards Campaign Amid Allegations Of His Abuse

The streaming service had been backing Shia for Best Actor gongs at film industry awards for his performance in the movie Pieces of a Woman.

However, Netflix has now removed the actor from its For Your Consideration page. They have also removed him from the synopsis of the film, while any images that included him have been taken off of the page

Netflix is still backing his co-star Vanessa Kirby for Best Actress prizes, as well as six other actors in supporting categories.

The move comes after LaBeouf’s ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs filed a sexual battery lawsuit against him, claiming he physically, emotionally and mentally abused her many times during their months-long relationship, which began in late 2018.

LaBeouf responded to the news of the lawsuit by acknowledging his shortcomings in a statement to The New York Times, writing: “I am not cured of my PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and alcoholism, but I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way.”

Since Twigs’ lawsuit, singer Sia came forward to accuse LaBeouf of conning her into an “adulterous relationship”. But the claims haven’t put off LaBeouf’s new girlfriend – Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star Margaret Qualley – who was seen publicly kissing him at an airport on Saturday.
