Emili Rousaud, one of the pre-candidates for the presidency of FC Barcelona, gave an interview to ‘AS’. In this interview, the former vice-president of the Azulgrana club believes that it is untenable to maintain Leo Messi’s salary.
Emili Rousaud was on Bartomeu’s board when he was president of Barca, but now he is running as a pre-candidate for the club’s presidency.
In this context, the possible new leader ‘culé’, gave an interview to the newspaper ‘AS’, which spoke about Messi and the complication of his salary.
“Here what matters is the sports project. When Messi said he was leaving he didn’t say it was for money. He has the highest salary in the world, there is no one who charges more than him. He doesn’t leave because he doesn’t earn enough, he wants to leave because he wants to win titles. He said it at the time: ‘It’s not enough for us’. He wants a team where there is talent,” explained Rousaud.
“Clearly, in the club’s current environment, Messi’s salary is not sustainable. It is unsustainable. An agreement must be reached. The project we will present to him is attractive,” he added.
In addition, he emphasised his idea to sign Neymar, something that would go in relation to the reduction of the salary of Leo to be able to bring in the Brazilian.
“The only condition for Ney to come back is that he withdraws the demands, that is a red line. The last Champions won was with him on the field, let’s not forget,” he concluded.
