The striker will spend Christmas at home in Rosario. That is where he began his footballing career before moving to Barcelona and becoming one of the best players of all time.
His stay in Argentina is expected to be brief because on 27th December, Barcelona will return to training ahead of the game with Eibar on the 29th.
Messi’s trip to Argentina comes just a day after going past Pele’s historic record for number of goals scored by a player for a single club. The former Brazilian football netted 643 times for Santos and the Argentine is on 644 for Barca.
