The controversial Louis Van Gaal slammed Solskjaer’s tactics after Man Utd drew 0-0 with Man City. He also talked about his relationship with Guardiola. “United played as if they were servants to Man City, all they did was defend with 10 men”.
In comments given to the ‘Mirror’, Louis Van Gaal analysed Man Utd’s goalless draw with Man City back on 12th December.
The Dutch footballing legend also talked about his relationship with Spanish manager Pep Guardiola. He did not pull any punches when it came to criticising Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tactics in the City game.
“All United did was defend with 10 men. In the derby, United played as if they were servants to Man City. Honestly, United were just defending and and putting a couple of players up front who can run 100 metres in 9 seconds. Is that a world record?,” Van Gaal said.
“Everyone knows my relationship with Pep Guardiola, who is angry with me because I challenged him in my last book. But I enjoyed watching City more than United. I have far more sympathy for City than for United.” the Dutchman continued.
Van Gaal even went further suggesting that the Norwegian manager could be sacked in the summer. “Solskjaer is an ex-player, so they will not sack him as quickly as someone else. United won’t sack a manager during the season especially Solskjaer. But they waited with sacking me until the end of the season and that could happen to him,” he concluded.
